Level 1
COURSE OVERVIEW
A fun and practical, introductory 4 week course, taught by industry professionals. Applicants must have an interest in design, basic IT skills and be comfortable using computers.
Full attendance is required to complete this course: 4 weeks full-time, Monday – Thursday 9.30am – 3.30pm.
- Learn the principles of graphic design; how to combine typography and image; create logos and brand identity; understand the difference between using colour in print (CMYK) and digital (RGB) designs.
- Learn how to use Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
- Learn how to create and embed QR codes, hyperlinks and pop-ups in interactive pdfs.
You will create an A4 print portfolio of design work which is assessed by the tutor at the end of the course.
On successful completion of the course, you will receive 2 accredited NCFE qualifications:
Level 1 Award in Graphic Design and Level 1 Certificate in Interactive Media.

On successful completion of the course, you will receive 2 accredited NCFE qualifications: Level 1 Award in Graphic Design and Level 1 Certificate in Interactive Media. This will help prepare you for a career in graphic design or web design. You may also progress to Web Design, Digital Marketing or Programming course at the College.
You will create an A4 print portfolio of design work which is assessed by the tutor at the end of the course. This will be then assessed by the External Awarding Body.

Step 1
Set Up Your Account

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Step 3
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Step 4
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.
Step 5
What next?
Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
